Background

They may be playing away from the Hilton Coliseum, but this group of Iowa State alumni will look to bring some of that Cyclone magic to TBT’s Midwest region. And, considering they will be coached by Iowa State Hall of Famer Marcus Fizer, it seems like this group has the right pieces in place to do just that.

While it’s hard to single out just one or two playmakers (this is an incredibly deep team), one would not be hard pressed to figure out the style of basketball the Hilton Magic Legends want to play with this summer. As GM Tony Colosimo says, ‘Our team is about teaming up Cyclone nation and its former stars in a fast paced, exciting brand of basketball to once again create that Hilton Magic feeling.”

If you want a piece of TBT trivia, how’s this for you? Point guard Korie Lucious played at Michigan State from 2008-2011 before transferring to Iowa State for his senior season. Last summer, Lucious suited up for the Spartan Heroes, a Michigan State alumni team. This year he will wear the famous Iowa State gold and cardinal for the Hilton Magic Legends. That makes Lucious the first player in TBT history to play for two different alumni teams representing schools he actually attended. The more you know.

If the Hilton Magic Legends can avoid that opening-round lag that sometimes plagues new alumni teams, look for them to be in a strong position to take the Midwest region by storm.
