Nutshell: Marquette's finest players from the past decade come together under head coach Wesley Matthews' tutelage.

The Golden Eagles were perhaps the most captivating alumni team in the TBT 2016 field, despite falling to Always A Brave in the Midwest Regional Championship Game. Coached by eight-year NBA veteran Wesley Matthews and boosted by 11-year NBA  journeyman Steve Novak, the team features a host of guys that Marquette fans hold near and dear to their hearts.

The logical place to start is with Dwight Buycks. The 2011 Marquette graduate was perhaps the best player in last summer's tournament, averaging 24.5 points per game en route to TBT 2016 All-Tournament Team honors. Joining him in the backcourt will be Eagles’ legends Darius Johnson-Odom, Jerel McNeal, Trent Lockett and Maurice Acker.

The unquestioned leader in the frontcourt is burly power forward Davante’ Gardner. In addition to a smooth finish around the rim, Gardner was one of the best shot blockers in the Midwest region last summer. Although the Golden Eagles do not boast anybody taller than 6-foot-8, this team has no problem clogging the lane and making life difficult for opponents.

The Golden Eagles are a popular pick to dethrone Overseas Elite and win the $2 million this summer. And, with some of the best coaching, guard play and big men in the field, it’s not hard to see why.
