Top two seeds go down in the Midwest

Hardin Jr. carries Canton Bulldogs to upset of Ants Alumni

The Canton Bulldogs hit 10 first-half 3-pointers to jump out to a 23-point lead and cruised to a 92-72 victory over Ants Alumni in Game 1 of the Midwest regional. Jesse Hardin Jr. led the way with 29 points, going 8-of-10 from beyond the arc and 9-of-11 overall. Demetrius Treadwell added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Bulldogs. The Ants, who shot just 43.4 percent from the field on the game, were paced by Miami alum Trey McKinney-Jones's 12 points on 4-of-6 from the floor.

Tight defense paces Armored Athlete to win over Midwest Dream Squad

Armored Athlete and its horde of hoosiers used brick-wall defense to coast to a 92-60 win over Midwest Dream Squad on Saturday in the first round of the Chicago regional. A number of Indiana hoops alumni--Will Sheehey, Jordan Hulls, Christian Watford--joined forces with college rivals to limit Midwest Dream Squad to 22-of-69 from the field, or 31.9 percent. Sheehey led all scorers with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Former Butler forward Roosevelt Jones pulled down eight rebounds, including three of the offensive flavor. Eric Palm scored 12 points for Midwest Dream Squad.

Bibby, Williams put on fireworks as Pedro's Posse beats Eberlein Drive

There were dimes aplenty in Chicago on Saturday, as Pedro's Posse utilized the playmaking skills of two former NBA stars to steer past Eberlein Drive, 99-89. Jason Williams, known among NBA fans as the cult hero "White Chocolate," scored 17 points and handed out 10 assists in front of a bedazzled crowd. Former Sacramento Kings teammate Mike Bibby, a TBT mainstay, added 10 points and eight assists of his own. Thirty-two points from Eberlein Drive's Justin Dentmon weren't enough to topple pass-happy Pedro's Posse.


Pullen leads Purple and Black to victory over The Region

Jacob Pullen scored 24 points to help Purple and Black stave off a furious eleventh hour comeback attempt by The Region and hold on for an 85-82 win on Saturday in Chicago. The Region led by three at the break, but Purple and Black shot nearly 20 percent better from the floor in the second half than they did in the first. The Kansas State alumni team secured a 72-71 lead with 4:53 left to play and wouldn't trail again. For The Region, Stefhon Hannah scored 27 points and handed out four assists for the Region, and Jeremiah Wilson added 24 points and 11 rebounds. Pullen was joined in double figures by four other teammates.

Always a Brave grinds out win over 120 Sports

Marcell Sommerville scored 18 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Always a Brave, the team of alumni from Bradley University in Peoria, IL, to a 74-68 victory over 120 Sports on Saturday in Chicago. Stifling defense forced 120 Sports into a 40.4 percent shooting night, and Always a Brave took advantage with timely 3-pointers and transition buckets. 120 Sports's Nate Lubick, a former Georgetown Hoya, led all scorers with 20 points. Will Franklin scored 17 points for Always a Brave and secured six rebounds.

Weddle paces Jackson TN Underdawgs to historic upset of top seeded Bluegrass Boys

Jeremy Weddle scored 21 points and snagged six rebounds to lead Jackson TN Underdawgs to an 87-78 victory over The Bluegrass Boys on Saturday in Chicago. The Underdawgs forced 18 turnovers, including eight live-ball steals, to create transition offense and limit The Bluegrass Boys' possessions. Five players scored in double figures for The Bluegrass Boys, a team of Kentucky alums led by former Wildcats standout Ramel Bradley with 19. Jewuan Long scored 16 points for the Underdawgs and added five boards and three assists.


Spartan Heroes fend off Ohio United upset bid

Leon Rodgers scored 25 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead Spartan Heroes to a 93-84 win over Ohio United on Saturday in Chicago. The team of Tom Izzo alums, Spartan Heroes, were down 16 at the half, but forced an overtime period after holding Ohio United to 28.6 shooting from the field in the second half. Brandon Wood added 19 points and nine boards for Spartan Heroes. Fred Sturdivant scored 19 points for Ohio United and snared 14 rebounds.

Golden Eagles Alumni grinds out win over Illinois Hoopville Warriors.

Dwight Bucks scored 27 points and pulled down three rebounds to lead the Golden Eagles Alumni past the Illinois Hoopville Warriors, 95-92. Illinois Hoopville Warriors led at the half, 46-41, but the Golden Eagles, a team of Marquette alumni, made eight 3-pointers and scored 54 points to come back for the win. Joe Chapman added 20 points and four rebounds for the Golden Eagles. Malcolm Griffin scored 20 points for the Warriors.
