Citi Team Holds on Against Charlotte Elite

Late Addition Tevin Glass Dominates for Citi Team

My guess is last minute roster addition Tevin Glass will have a spot on the roster for as long as Citi Team is still alive. The 6’8” forward showed out in Citi Team’s first Jamboree game against Charlotte Elite – playing all 36 minutes while putting up 28 points and 12 rebounds.

Citi led 45-36 at halftime thanks to 51.7% shooting from the field, compared to just 32.6% for Charlotte Elite. When the Elam Ending was put into play, Citi had pushed its lead out to 13 and led 81-68, but Charlotte Elite took full advantage of the innovative new ending and mounted a serious comeback.

The lead was cut to just one possession (81-78) before Citi Team stopped the bleeding with a Glass three-pointer from the top of the key. With Citi leading 86-82 and a target score of 88, a tip-in from – you guessed it – Tevin Glass solidified the win for Citi.

A.J. Merriweather was strong in support of Glass, finishing with 17 points (8-13 FG) and seven rebounds. Joel Smith added 16 and Tasheed Carr chipped in 15 points.

Charlotte Elite struggled from downtown, shooting just 25% on 32 attempts. Joe Pope and Titus Robinson each had 24 points and 8 rebounds for Charlotte, but other than LawMarcus Letchaw’s 15 points, Charlotte didn’t have another player score more than seven.

Citi’s win advances them to tomorrows Jamboree South final, where they’ll play the winner of ATL Hoops4Hunger and Brothers Dat Ball. Tune in to WatchESPN tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. to see if Citi Team can grab the last spot in TBT2017’s South regional in Charlotte.
