Surviving a near-blown lead during the Elam Ending. A heart-stopping finish. In the end, the result was the same.

Jeremy Pargo hit a free throw to reach the Target Score and push Overseas Elite to an 87-86 victory over Louisiana United. The win was the 22nd straight for Overseas Elite, the three-time TBT champions and winners of $5 million who are now on to a fourth straight South Region title game.

Errick McCollum tied a game high with 24 points, and D.J. Kennedy added 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead Overseas Elite, which answered a 17-0 Louisiana United run by closing the first half on a 12-0 run of its own to break open a tie game and take a lead which it never relinquished.

“It’s a game of runs,” said Overseas Elite coach Marc Hughes. “The game goes back and forth, and you’ve got to continue to work the game.”

Bryon Allen, whose back-to-back three-pointers closed the deficit for the scrappy Louisiana United squad during the Elam Ending, had 24 points to tie a game high.

When asked if his team has lost a bit of its edge after so many victories, McCollum’s response was quick and direct.

“No one gets tired of winning,” said McCollum. “We understand that everybody wants to beat us.”
