The Elam Ending has provided a handful of exciting finishes already this summer, and Men of Mackey produced yet another on Sunday night in its TBT debut.
Justin Dentmon scored five points as part of a 12-0 Elam Ending run to lead the Men of Mackey past Heartfire, 83-79. Dentmon, a former University of Washington guard, poured in a TBT-high 33 points to pace the scoring attack for Men of Mackey.
“Spacing was a big key for us,” said Dentmon. “We moved the ball extremely well, and we made stops.”
Isaac Haas, who posted a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds) and scored the winning basket for the Purdue University alumni squad, maintained that it was a team effort to overcome the late deficit.
“We forced them into bad shots,” said the veteran TBT center. “Credit to everyone on our team. We did it, and now we’re moving on.”
Isaiah Austin led four players in double figures with 17 points in the losing effort for Heartfire, which squandered a six-point lead during the Elam Ending.
Men of Mackey advances to face Boeheim’s Army, the Syracuse University alumni squad, on July 7th at 4:00 PM EST.
